The Daily Mail Online published an article today showcasing a few images of Tamara Ecclestone's Crib. She's a Socialite or something, right? What does that job description entail anyway? If the job involves posing whilst staring all dreamy, into the distance, in your £70 million pound house, then I think I'd like to be one of those when I grow up.
People who have a passion for interior design find it ridiculously difficult to NOT pore over images of 'exclusive' dwellings (or any dwellings for that matter) and offer their opinion on what's hot and what's not. And that's exactly what we're going to do. I'm going to split the images into two Threads because of image restrictions.
The Heritage buffs are gonna love this one!
Image 1: The first thing I noticed, believe it or not were the flowers! They're beautiful! A great example of how greenery and flowers can really add life to an interior. I love the dark parquet flooring - I'm not really a fan of parquet but I like this dark shade. It's very rich and provides a bit of grounding and contrast to the airy space. Can anyone tell me why the blinds are rolled up like a newspaper??!! Is this a new trend that I haven't picked up on? In my opinion, it looks stupid especially when a) you can't really appreciate the pattern on the fabric and b) it's out of proportion with the expansive windows. I HATE the chairs. That flimsy material on the back-rest makes them look cheap. The Regency style striped wallpaper is ok. The marble display area is very different. I think I like it, I'm not sure.
Image 2: I don't like the fussy floral wallpaper (and I'm not saying that all floral wallpaper isn't nice, just this wallpaper!), I think it it's FAR too busy to be positioned alongside a fireplace that has heavily veined marble. It's like they're fighting for attention. And in this scenario no one wins. A fireplace like that should be allowed to shine, it's being choked by the wallpaper. The rug/carpet is gorgeous. Love the stripe. The chairs are nice too but the chandelier looks like something you'd pick up in B&Q. I'm not saying that's a bad thing per se but in a house of this magnitude with such period detailing/significance it deserves a much more elaborate light fitting. Plus, a glass chandelier would have provided much needed glamour.
Image 3: So we're going all Art Deco in this room then. Again, I don't like the light fitting - there's very little fluid shape to it. The chairs are awesome. The glossy wood actually provides a retro feel but with the (Art Deco?) inspired carpet things are looking a little confused. I don't like the carpet at all.
Over to you!
